Montrose V Rangers at Links Park Stadium - Match Preview

Montrose look to end Gers run

Montrose are almost at full strength as they host Third Division leaders Rangers at Links Park.

Paul Lunan is the Gable Endies' only absentee, as he continues to recover from a fractured ankle.

Stuart Garden's side are in fine form ahead of the fixture, having won four and drawn two of their last six games.

Garden said: "This is a huge event for the club and the town but thankfully we are going into it in confident mood after a good run of results and form.

"It will be a really tough game as Rangers are used to the Third Division now and know how to win games away from home.

"A lot of effort has gone into the preparations and hopefully the boys can put on a display to mark the occasion well."

Midfielder Fraser Aird could return for Rangers after time out with a fractured thumb.

Ross Perry returned to training during the week after hernia surgery but the game comes too soon for him, while Kane Hemmings is still building up his fitness following a knee injury.

Defenders Emilson Cribari (calf) and Sebastien Faure (hernia) remain on the sidelines.

Manager Ally McCoist will have to decide whether to risk David Templeton on the artificial pitch at Links Park weeks after the player returned from an ankle injury sustained on a similar surface at Annan.

Rangers have won their last five games in all competitions and are a point clear of Elgin at the top of the table.
