Elgin earn home comforts

Elgin secured their first win in five league games with a 2-1 victory over Montrose.

Stuart Leslie set up Craig Gunn to score his 19th league goal of the season after 35 minutes as the hosts earned a half-time lead.

Archibald Macphee then doubled the Black and Whites' advantage with an emphatic finish 10 minutes after the break.

But Montrose had won two of their last three away games and the Gable Endies halved the deficit 15 minutes from time when Martin Boyle applied the finish to Scott Johnston's assist.

Ray Farningham's side pushed for a equaliser but were unable to earn a late point, substitute Jonathan Smart firing over in the 88th minute as Elgin earned their first home win since early March.
