Montrose set out looking to keep further strengthen their play-off hopes in this match against an Elgin side who were still looking for their first win of the year.

Montrose began brightly and in the 15th minute took the lead when Stephen Black fired in a corner from the right hand side for McLeod to head home.  Montrose kept up the pressure but Elgin hit back on the counter when, in the 27th minute, Charlesworth tapped home a Nicolson cross.  On loan striker Fraser McLaren had a good chance for Montrose with a close range effort but it hit Ridgers in the face before being cleared.

The second half saw Montrose continue to dominate from the start and Keith Gibson went close twice in the space of a couple of minutes only to be denied by Ridgers who was in fine form.  The Montrose strike force again missed a good opportunity when Wood headed Ian Dobbins cross wide of the post from close range.  The pressure was kept up again by Montrose when McLaren looped a shot onto the bar only for Wood to fire the rebound straight at Ridgers.  Then Elgin stunned the Gable Endies in the 79th minute when Charlesworth, just back from injury, scored his second of the game when Zander Sutherland skipped past McLeod and laid the ball off for Charlesworth to smash home.

Weir was clearly disappointed with the lack of conversion from chances to goals and made it obvious to the press that the team knew how he felt.

With just 1 point from out last 9 we now need to pick up the pace to keep ourselves in the mix for the play-offs.  With the other contenders around us with games in hand we need as many points as we can to achieve a top four finish.
