Gretna maintained their 100 per cent record as Gavin Skelton struck to give them a 1-0 win over Montrose.

Skelton's decisive long-range strike came a minute into the second half, as Gretna totally dominated proceedings.

The league leaders had plenty of possession in the first half and moved the ball around confidently in front of the Montrose backline.

The visitors almost grabbed the lead in 29th minute, when Euen Hall's effort beat the keeper but ended up on the roof of the net.

Just minutes later, Gretna's Ryan Baldacchino fired in a dangerous cross, only for Ryan McGuffie's effort to be blocked on the line.

Skelton rifled home from distance in the 46th minute, and it looked only a matter of time before they got a second.

McGuffie consistently proved to be a threat on the left and on the hour he released David Bingham, only for Budd to block the line.

Gretna almost grabbed a second with 15 minutes to play when McGuffie rifled a long-range drive inches past the post.

Montrose showed little upfront but Craig Smart forced home keeper David Mathieson into a diving save as the game meandered to a conclusion.
