A goal in each half saw Albion Rovers improve their mediocre away record with a 2-0 win at Montrose.

Striker John Gemmell had already forced Montrose goalkeeper Ramiro Gonzalez into a save before he slotted a seventh-minute strike into the bottom-corner.

Montrose briefly threatened an equaliser when Sean Crighton headed over a Dougie Cameron cross after a handball by Albion's Michael McGowan.

Montrose made two substitutions at half time in an attempt to reverse the deficit but Scott Chaplain fired home from six yards in the 76th minute to double Rovers' advantage and secure all three points.
