Montrose 0-6 Peterhead- Match Report

Montrose hit for six by Peterhead

A hat-trick from Rory McAllister saw Peterhead crush play-off rivals Montrose 6-0 at Links Park.

The Blue Toon had lost their previous three matches and failed to score in their last four going into the game, but a McAllister-inspired performance saw them close the gap on Montrose to three points.

A right-footed strike from Ryan McCann opened the scoring after seven minutes, before McAllister hit his first of the day with 18 minutes gone.

The Gable Endies almost clawed themselves back into the tie when they were awarded a penalty after 20 minutes, but Stephen McNally's effort drew an excellent save from goalkeeper Graeme Smith.

Jim McInally's side stretched their lead in the 31st minute through McAllister again, whose right-footed effort from six yards made it 3-0.

McAllister wasted a chance to seal his hat-trick in the 82nd minute when his penalty struck the crossbar, but the striker popped up inside the area with 88 minutes gone to make amends with a strike from 12 yards, after Andrew Rodgers had made it 4-0 in the 85th minute.

Rodgers hit a right-footed shot from 12 yards after 90 minutes to complete the rout.
