Albion collected three important points with a narrow victory at Montrose.

Albion went close in the 15th minute when Gary Fleming fired in a drive, which was saved at his post by James Butter.

Montrose hit back, and just a minute later Graeme Sharp fired just wide.

After 25 minutes, Montrose's Steven Kerrigan shot wide from a Martin Wood lay-off.

Kerrigan was the danger man again after 31 minutes when his shot was deflected for a corner. From the corner, Paul Doyle headed narrowly wide.

The breakthrough came after 37 minutes when Albion were awarded a disputed corner. Chris Silvestro swung in the kick and James Mercer headed home.

Montrose hit back in the second half and Kevin Webster shot narrowly wide. Then Craig Smart was denied by goalkeper Chris Fahey.

Montrose went close to equalising after 73 minutes when Smart headed just over from a Webster cross. A minute later, Webster crossed again and this time Neil Stephen headed wide of the back post.

Ten minutes from time, substitute Calum Watson fired in a drive which was just kept out by Fahey.

Montrose pressed in vain, and two minutes from time Matt Slater shot over from a great position.

Montrose forced a string of corners in stoppage time, and with 93 minutes on the clock, Kerrigan headed over from a Webster coorner.
