Smart goal piles misery on The Shire

Montrose earned their second 2-1 win in a row and condemned East Stirling to their ninth straight league defeat in the process.

It looked like it would be a long afternoon for East Stirling when striker Scott Johnston drilled home Montrose's opener after 90 seconds.

But 10 minutes later Alistair Love's floating cross was drilled home by Andrew Stirling to give the visitors the equaliser.

Montrose were still dominating proceedings and regained the lead on the hour when Dougie Cameron's corner found Jonathan Smart to powerfully head low into the net.

Calum Antell kept the visitors in the match with some fine saves, but his side never looked like snatching a point late on.
