Queens Park climbed the league with a fine victory at Montrose.

Queens got off to a flying start with a goal after 40 seconds when Frankie Carroll headed home a Mark Ferry cross.

Queens had the ball in the net after eight minutes through Ross Clark, but the flag was up for offside.

The second Queens Park goal came along after 14 minutes when Stuart Kettlewell crossed from the right and Ferry headed home on the back post.

Worse was to follow for the home side after 23 minutes when Paul Harvey stepped up to curl a free-kick over the defensive wall and into the net.

Montrose pressed at the start of the second half and a Steve Kerrigan header was saved by David Crawford. Then Martin Wood had his shot blocked.

Montrose got a goal back after 65 minutes when Wood pulled the ball back from the by-line for Kevin Webster to side-foot home.

Any hopes of a home fightback were dashed after 73 minutes. Alan Trouten had his shot saved by Jim Butter, and when the ball broke loose Ferry scored from the edge of the box.

Montrose had the last word a minute from time when Webser went on a superb solo run and shot past Crawford.
